Boiler Violations
This week we wanted to update you about a recent NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) decision to issue new boiler violations for owner’s failure to correct alleged defects that were disclosed in annual inspections for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and/or 2022.
These new violations were issued on November 14, 2023, and carry a civil penalty of $1,000 per violation. Please be advised that the new violations can only be dismissed if (i) payment is made, and the boiler has a current inspection showing no defects or (ii) an Affirmation of Correction or subsequent report showing no defects filed with DOB.
Please note that these new violations only appear on DOB NOW and are not accessible on DOB’s BIS system. A link to a DOB Service Notice which includes important information related to this recent enforcement policy is set forth below:
